Here is just another update about me, my goals, and what I will be doing this semester.
After some deliberation, I have decided that it would be best for me to not do my radio show and start focusing on the ensembles that I have always been wanting to get into. That's not to say that I may occasionally do an independent podcast when I can. I would like to continue to go to the boiler room to do this open mic thing. It's fun enough and there is a good opportunity to meet some semi-talented people. There are also some pretty talented people there to and THOSE are the people who are really worth some of my free time.
Unfortunately, summer is now over and there are things I have to cut out. I really really want to succeed as a instrumentalist this year and in order to do that, I have to get into gear. My priorities are as follows:
1. Me
I am my most important priority. If I don't feel well or whatever, I should check with that first.
2. School
I am paying too much money not to make this one of my top priorities.
3. Writing/Practicing
These are two key things I don't do enough of and I would like to continue on this momentum I built up over the summer of performing and writing.
4. Work
I need to make some extra scratch somehow...
5. Friends
I feel bad enough that my friends are this low on this list but I hope they understand that the above 4 are very difficult to compete with.
6. Extra Curricular
Priorities here lie on campus first and off second. These include things like Pep Band, Boiler Room, and side bands.
So I will be posting as the school year rolls on and things develop.
Peace Out and Live Well

It is once again time for another chapter
If I were keeping track of chapters ACTUALLY, this would be
Chapter 3 of
Chris' Life as a growing Adult/College Student/Waycoolguy
Prologue:
So, last we left off was something towards the end of the spring semester. I managed to pull off a relatively decent if not a high mark for my University career thus far. After school let out, I left for the homeland for a quick Stockton detox (god knows that needs to happen every once and a while). I come back, rent an apartment with my great bff Ni. We get all that done, I manage to avoid getting my car ticketed and am still without a REGISTERED car. I'll rant about the latter some other time. I manage to grab a few gigs, start my serious music writing rhythm and even get to expand my network exponentially.
Some advice for those kids who are just getting here in Stockton today and somehow magically come across this place. you really really need to:
1: Lose the mindset that Stockton is this Uber dangerous place that if you walk off the precious UOP property, you are just waiting to be mugged/shot/maimed/smited.
It's not really THAT dangerous. Like any place, you just have to be aware of your surroundings and learn about it. There's a lot of great things off campus.
2: Get off of campus.
I don't mean go home and hang out with your fam every time for your UOP detox. I mean take the 40 express down pacific and head downtown and catch a movie or go to the mall or do SOMETHING. I feel like I could be a much more interesting person if I was able to explore more.
So those are just some of the things I learned this summer and gained. I really didn't travel anywhere amazing. I mean, I did go to Sac a few times. Tracy even. All in all, it was a good summer for me myself.
Now it is time to head into a new school year. To help mark the situation symbolically and literally, I am doing a 72 hour water fast.
With that little bit of info, that brings us to where I am currently. Tomorrow is another day closer to business and greater skills. I feel like this is enough. I'll let readers in on my other en devours later like my new job and what I see there and what is lately occupying most of my time.
Take it easy and live a good life!

Summertime
So I haven't updated in a while. We will be rethinking the format and things we do here but I just thought I would let you all know I am alive. Here's a bit of an update.
I HAVE AN APARTMENT NOW!
I am a little scared to post my address on here but for those of you who know where Nila lived, I am her roomate and we live just upstairs where Brian Chahley used to live. The place is coming together pretty good. I have my own room with good company. I am still in need of furniture. Thusfar I have a chest of three drawers, a file cabinet, and a smaller chest of two drawers. The big chest is for clothes obviously. The file cabinet will be for school papers. I really want to be organized but who knows what that will be. The smallest chest will possibly be for music related things. Who knows. I have hardwood floors. I have a nice sized closet. Two windows, one facing the street. It's pretty nice. The rest of the apartment is great and there will be pictures coming up later. Maybe a video tour once everything is settled.
This weekend I am going to be going to my brothers 8th grade graduation. It will be very fun and maybe a little family party. This sunday is also father's day. There will easily be some BBQing and maybe some thoughtful gifting. I really wish that everyone who is not able to be with their father is able to enjoy the day regardless and join together and try to have good times. I think that there needs to be more family member holidays like Sons day, Brother's Day, Daughter, Sister's. A bunch of stuff. More Hallmark Opportunity lol.
I really want to take some more pictures and be able to show off my life. I do take some pictures when I am around town and you can find those over at my twitter account. You can find me at twiter.com/christopher_sax. If someone can maybe recomend some cameras for me. I am a college student so keep that in mind.
The shows, what to say about them...
TJS I think is going to be restarted for those who had no idea what the jaza show was. That being said, expect some new shows come july. I am not sure if it will be live like it used to, but maybe there will be some better content and stuff for that show.
Inside the saxophonists Studio is still going to be a podcast mainly for the UOP Saxophone Studio class. I may decide to augment it with I am not sure what. I need to come up with some kind of questionarre for the studio so we can cater it to them.
There may be some new shows...
I am thinking of doing a review show of different forms of media. This may be a summer project also starting in July. I will try and just review maybe things I have and try and grab anything I can to review. I am planning on applying to a record store here so I may stick to AV media for practice.
I would like to do a reality-cast. Kind of like a video blog maybe. IDK. I think for that to become interesting, I would have to set up a couple of more cameras around the apartment and get used to recording from my phone and uploading at the end of each day.
The other podcast I would like to do is a News podcast. Sure, it would be second hand news because any good news worth watching has already been broadcasted. I did some daily news back in middle school so maybe I will do that. It could be fin and informative.
There other ideas but I think I will sit on these for a while. So, the last word on shows is to expect Season 2 of TJS, and expect some Pilot episodes of some new podcasts. Your feedback will be appreciated.
Other than that, life is grand and great. Check back later. I will begin working soon!
Cheers

We are almost home
Hello eveyone! Chris here to bring you another update, from the past.... We are still workin' on that. Anywho, update time!
Thursday was a typical busy day but friday however, was quite fun. Friday was the columbia college big band's day to play over at La Contenta. I got to sit it and have a roaring fun time. I wanted to record but I dodn't bring anything to record with, and besides, I think that it probably would've been too loud to record. It was a very fun time and I am glad I was invited. My parents and brothers came too because it was my brother matthew's birthday. So we went to the timeshare after being lost for hours and passed out. The next morning it was up and atem, quite slowly though.
We all piled into the car and went to an old west part of town and walked around. That visit was short lived but definately worth it. I had allot of fun just walking around and observign all the tourists and enjoying the atmosphere. We had a great lunch and tried some great wine. After lunch, we loaded up once again and headed to the Moaning Caverns. It was really cool. The tour was a little short but the formations in that cave were really pretty cool. Once we got down, we looked around and enjoyed the space. It's really cool to be in another world. It's just like you expand yourself and feel lost and welcome at the same time. so we climbed back up all of those stais and finally made it outside. After the cave we were all given bags of dirt and gems. The gems were hidden in the dirt and it was our job to find each gem in there. It was again, pretty cool. The very last thing we did that day was do the zip line. 1500 feet of pure speed. I got strapped in and I started down the line. I picked up speed and got all turned around. In a panic, I tried to right myself but it was pretty useless. at the last minute I stood up and tried to slow down. It was too late though and no amount of trying to slow down could keep me from coming in like a runaway train. I nearly took out the 115 pund girl at the other end.
After that, I was to head back here to stockton and get back to the grind. I went the the Matinee, a bar in stockton, to do some work for Patrick. There I made a new friend and it was a good night. monday was typical and so was tuesday. Wednesday flew by and before you know it, it is today, thursday.
Time for the entertaining bits!
Here's the Nila report:
Nila, is fading.
-Things that could get you kicked out of the military-
1. eat your commanding officer
2. gamble with the foreign clown
3. tell your officers that you have the black plague
and for digg...
I found this! I have always loved Mortal Combat despite it's recent suckage. For me, I don't take it as seriously, but I think of it as a good party game that is great for quick arcade style matches. Another thing I love but didn't play allot fo were those Capcom VS Marvel typ games. That Being said, let me introduce you to Mortal Kombat VS DC. There's a clip here of I guess the opening sequence or just the preview but it is Batman and frigin' Sub Zero duking it out! Check it out here

Still Stuck in the Past
Hey everyone! Chris here coming to you from last thursday! Once again, the time warp has blurred some of my memory. I will do my best to get out of this spot and get current.
So, since last thursday's post what happened? ...
Thursday was this great concert with compser and arranger Hiromi! I unfortunately, could not go because I had to do my show and it was impossible for me ot check it out. Sometimes I am upset because my prime time Thursday Night at 8pm slot prevents me from seeing allot of cool stuff. I haven't seen any whole brubeck fellow shows since the start of my radio program. I miss tons of recitals and I wish that I could have more time. Oh well though. I love to do my show. It is fun and it is well worth the time to do. Maybe if you haven't seen it yet, you should check it out.
Friday was another concert but I was on the road to go see Christian McBride. I was going to bring some friends but they bailed. I got to the place and man it was great to see the all play. Christian was Amazing and so was everyone else. I got to see allot of great friends and catch up. The festival wsa great too. I got to see my japanese friends from two years ago too (pics to come)! The festival was great and before I knew it, it was time to go. The rest of the week came and went and I was back to this thursday before I knew it.
So, I did accomplish my goal this week. I messed up a little bit. I made just one big file with all of my recordings on it. I may or may not post it cuz it's only sax with no accompanment. I'd like to do it with a live band just for funsies but that is a little harder to do.
This weeks new goal is to make my surroundings and myself more presentable! Ya, that's a good one!
Nila sometimes smells like poop.
-Things you shouldn't punch-

Coming to you from the past!
Believe me or not, I am acutally blogging from Thursday, April 3rd. I happened to slip into this time zone that delays blog posts. Anyway, It was a great week. More relaxed and stuff than anything. I don't know, this time rip memssed with my memory.
Today's show was good. I landed another gig! Which brings me to an announcement.
If you want any of the 2 CDs that are coming out soon please let me know so I can get them to you! The first CD is in post-production and is currently being mastered by Mister David Tanner. It is a great CD wil all original tracks written by Tyler Combs. It's the first one I have done in a while so I am kinda proud of it so please let me know!
The other album will be a pop/r&b album featuring Stockton vocalist, Theresa Velazquez. So i'll keep you posted on that. I guess now on to the bits!
-Things you shouldn't do quickly-
1. tai-chi
2. speak
3. eat
(pretty dumb card. idk I am kinda in a mental blankness)
I did hear of a book that I want to read. It is called infected but I have not picked it up. So, I guess I will chalk this up for another loss....
Ummm.... new goal... hmmm....
I want to record a practice cd this sunday of the tunes that I will be sight reading from my fakebook! That's a good one
Oh and for those of you who think that I will not be going back to these goals that I have made in the past, rethink that. I am alwas trying for ways to better myself!
I got Nila surprise Ice Cream. I did a fantastic job and she loved it. Because I got her surprise ice cream, she think I am such a greater guy!
on digg....
I saw something realy cool but I don't want to say what it is. It could lead to some fun later!!!
See you later!

So this week has been full of thrills and tons of fun. It's amazing how time flies by when you are having a pretty good week. I am glad I have good friends to hang out with to make those kinds of things happen.
So what happened this week? This last weekend I recorded a CD and as soon as I get a final copy of it, I will put it up on a couple of feeds so you guys can download and comment to your hearts content. It was a fun project that kinda sprouted a coupel others. I sense more recording coming up soon. That means more stuff for you guys! On a similar note, I have some old recording I have been meaning to put up so if you want a hand on those, keep bugging me and I will try and make it happen. I think for now, it will all be free so grab the deal like it's hot because in the future, all gig recordings that get that I am responsible for, I will probably charge like $5. Who knows.
After recording I got to spend a good time with my good friend David whom some of you might know from The Jazz Show With Chris. It was really fun and I got to meet some of his family and once again, be trailer trash (his family owns a really nice tow trailer with an amazing bed in it. It's kinda my room I figure). I got bunny day presents from Mrs. Tanner and have already consumed/used most of them. So overall, it was a great time.
I got back on monday and Finally got my car back from the coppers who stole it! Luckily, I didn't have to pay for it because god know how I would have paig the nearly $500 to get it out. I haven't decided yet, but since I have gotten my car back, parking has been a huge hassle. Should I get a parking permit to park on campus???
The rest of the week flew by with a few highlights. This tuesday I began my venture with the great Coltrance composition Giant Steps. It's proving not as bad as I had initially thought. I begin to feel more and more comfortable with it each day I work on it. I'll record it and dump it on you guys to comment.
Last night was the very first time I played Super Smash Brothers Brawl and may I say, it was a blast. I really only played one character, wolf, so I am not sure who my best character is but since I am a big Falco fan, Wolf was a good choice. I won the very first match I played but sadly I lost every round following that lol. I died that same exact way on the last times too. It is sooo bad to attack to a place where there is no floor!
Nila has been very nice this week. There, thats out of the way lol.
This weeks thing card is,
-Things You shouldn't do with your computer-
1. Bathe with them
2. try and take over the world!
3. eat it for lunch
Last weeks goal was to try and have the show planned by tuesday. I can't honestly say I have a solid idea as to what will happen on tonights show. I have a couple of ideas though. I am sure it will be a good show regardless.
My new goal for this week is to try and pick up a book for once. I don't mean school book or a kids book but a good book. I haven't read anything recreationally in a while and I think it's time to head back to the grindstone with that.
What's on digg?
I found a cool looking concept of a laptop. I don't know. These conceptual things interest me sometimes. What do you think? Fut re Laptop
Alright. well I will see you all next week! Class time!!!

Birth of the Blog
So this blog is for all the listeners out there to just get an idea of what happens between shows. You can find some of my excuses here lol.
I think one thing I will try to do is make this a weekly blog. I'll have a couple of things I do regularly.
1) I will make 1 mention of Nila a week. I think this would be funny because I KNOW she will look for it lol.
2) I bought a game the other day called things and each week I will answer one thing card.
3) I will make one goal and say if I accomplished it.
4) I will link to one Digg story I think was cool.
-------------------------------
I already made my nila mention.
and here is my thing card for today
-Things that go bad.-
1. Tempers
2. Apples
3. Dates
(tell me what you think!)
This week, I want to have my show planned by next tueday.
And for digg...
I watched this study. I like physics sometimes and particularly studies in things we already believe are true. In this experiment, a scientist claims that under certain situations, time is percieved differently. The results from this experiment are very interesting but I think only prove that by itself, time doesn not slow down. The brain does however feel time differntly under different chemical levels.
Check out what I'm talking about
If you are in the Stockton area, please be sure to come check out my band play at the methodist church right across from the University of the Pacific!
Cheers!
